Barry Calvagna – Makes Up One Half Of New Rock

Barry Calvagna makes up one half of new rock and hard rock band New York Avenue. As the vocalist and acoustic guitarist he is joined by Vinny Malanga on acoustic and electric guitar. Having been likened to Bon Jovi and placed under the banner of rock and hard rock, listeners will also be able to hear pop and contemporary country music influences thrown into some of the original tracks. Their debut album, which is called “Third Time’s a Charm”, can be previewed and downloaded from download sites ZooMoozik, iTunes, and CDBaby.

The early bands in a musician’s career can help to form the direction they take throughout their musical lives and careers. Barry Calvagna was part of a high school rock band called Ravge, which also at one stage featured a young Steve Vai still learning his way on the guitar. As singer for the band, Barry Calvagna was called upon to cover tracks by the likes of David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Kiss, and Alice Cooper although they also performed some of their own original tracks.

Barry Calvagna is a guitarist and vocalist with the band New York Avenue, currently under the Indie label Huntington Records. Having released their first album, which music lovers can listen to on their myspace page as well, New York Avenue look set to go on and record more original titles and make a name for themselves.
